Thank you to everyone who came in to help us celebrate are second anniversary.  We have been working really hard on the fall class samples.  Most of them are now up in the store for you to look at.  The last few samples will be finished shortly.  Pictures have been added with the class discriptions.   To enlarge the pictures just click on them.  If you have something you are wanting to learn come in and see me.  I will put together a class just for you and some friends.   Come in and see our new block of the month quilting projects for the fall of 2010.   We are really excited about them.

Our next UFO Friday Night is September 17th from 4pm until midnight.  I look forward to seeing what everyone is working on.

Our next Scrapper’s club is on August 28th and we will be working on finishing some of the previous quilts that the ladies have not got completed yet.  I look forward to seeing all the wonderful projects that have been worked on.

I love to see customer projects and ideas.  You inspire myself and my staff with your great projects.  Please keep bringing them in for us to see.

Fall Classes 2010

Stitching Class

Have you always wanted to add a few flowers and vines or different types of stitches to your quilts or wall hangings?  Femia has some pointers for you.  whether you are a new stitcher or a seasoned pro.

Date and Time:  Thursday, September 23rd from 10am to 12pm

Cost: $20.00 plus embroidery needle and floss

The Frayed Jacket

Several of you have admired Sharon’s jacket in the shop.  Designed by a Canadian designer, the jacket is a short fully lined princess style with a ratched collar.  It can be made with from one fabric or with fat quarters, edges frayed or finished.  Pick a nice fabric for the lining because the jacket can be reversible.

Dates and Time:  Wednesday, October 6th, 13th, and 20th from 1:30pm to 4pm

Cost:  $40.00 plus pattern and supplies

Slipper Cutties

Make these adorable slippers to keep your feet warm all winter long.  Bet you can’t make just one pair.  Sharon’s Granddaughter says “These slippers are so comfy!”  Grandma has to make her another pair.

Date and Time:  Thursday, October 14th, from 10am to 1pm or 6pm to 9pm

Cost:  $25.00 plus pattern and supplies

Beginner Applique Class

Have you always wanted to learn how to applique.  Come and learn the basic techniques of machine applique.  Choose from different projects in the store.

Date and Time:  Thursday, October 21st from 10 am to 3 pm

Winter Sampler Wallhanging

This charming 30″ x 30″ sampler has an embroidered center and is surrounded by nine patch and star blocks.  After you have made this one, you might want to make one for a friend.  basic sewing skills required

Date and Time:  Thursday, October 28th and November 4th from 10am to 12:30pm or 6:30pm to 9pm

Cost: $40.00 plus pattern and supplies

Hobo Bag

This is a new pattern that Sharon found at the Vermont Quilt Show.  Can be made with 5″ or 6″ squares.  The bag is pieced using a very different type of construction to form a slouchy type bag (like a hobo sack).  Leather handles complete the bag.

Date and Time:  Saturday, October 9th from 10am to 4pm

Cost: $40.00 plus pattern and supplies

Show Casing Feature Fabric in a Quilt

Do you have a piece of fabric that you just cannot bring yourself to cut up into small size squares.  We have just the right pattern for you.  Check out the two different samples made from the same pattern that show cases two different fabrics.

Dates and Times:  Thursday, September 30th from 6pm to 8pm and Saturday, October 2nd from 10am to 4pm

Cost:  $45.00 plus book and supplies

New York Beauty “Foundation by the Yard” Wallhanging or Quilt

Paper piecing without paper?  The patterns are printed on the cloth foundation and the blocks are pieced the same way as paper piecing.  The wall hanging uses 12 blocks, sewing then in a different sequence will make a crib size quilt.  Larger quilts can be made with more blocks.  Basic sewing skills required.

Dates and Times:  Wednesday, November 10th from 6pm to 9pm and Saturday, November 13th from 10am to 4pm

Cost: $60.00 plus supplies

UFO Friday Evenings

UFO Friday Evenings. Come join us for a fun filled evening of sewing, pizza, laughter and conversation. Do you have pile of unfinished projects or just a project that needs to be finished. This is a great way to complete your UFO. If you require assistance one of our friendly staff will be on hand.

Dates:  July 23rd, August 13th, September 17th, October 15th, November 19th and December 10th, 2010 Time: 4pm until Midnight

Cost: $25.00 per evening

Need a place to sew?

Want to have friends over to quilt but don’t have the space?  Here’s a solution for you:  “Saturday Sew-In One Saturday per month we will open our classroom for sewing.  Get a group of friends together or meet new friends while you are sewing.  Pre-registration is required.

Dates:  September 11th and 18th  Times: 10 am to 4 pm

Cost: $10.00 per person

Advanced Beginner

A great new class to expand your knowledge.  In this class you will learn how to do half square triangles, flying geese and more with the help of Dawn Lee Parrill. In putting together 12 different 12″ blocks.

Dates:  Tuesday,  September 21st to November 2nd  Time: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm or 6:30pm to 9:30 pm

Cost: $115.00 includes all patterns; fabric required

Absolute Beginner Quilting Classes

This seven-class session will teach you basic rotary cutting skills, piecing of blocks and putting it all together.  You will also learn the vocabulary, the tools and proven techniques.  We will provided you  with tips to insure that you have fun while you are quilting your first quilt.  Come join the fun.

Date and Time: Wednesday, September 22nd to November 3rd   Times: 9:30am to 12:30pm or 6:30pm to 9:30pm

Cost: $115.00 + supplies, patterns and fabric

Rag Time Quilt

Have you admired the raggedy-edged quilts but not sure how to put one together?  Each square is quilted as you go and then joined in rows with the seams exposed.  deliberately cut the seams to “rag” them.  Washing will then fray the seams to give that raggy look.  Choose any rag quilt pattern that  you would like to make.  Basic sewing skills required.

Date:  Saturday, October 16th, 2010

Time:  10 am - 2 pm

Cost:  $40.00 + pattern and supplies

Scrapper’s Club Do you have a lot of scraps laying around?  Come and join our new Scraper’s Club and make a new project each month.  Use all those wonderful bits and pieces that you have laying around and are not sure what to do with them.

Date and Time:  July 24th, August 28th, September 25th, October 23rd, and November 27th from 10 am and 4 pm

Cost:  $20 per month plus the cost of the book


More Than Meandering

Do you have a mountain of quilt tops waiting to be finished?  This is the class for you, Alena Schlecker has some new ideas!  Come and learn easy techniques that will have you quilting with confidence.  Learn your own style and have fun playing around on a sample of muslin.  Come out and have a really good time and learn more than meandering.

Date and Times:  Thursday, October 7th from 10am to 12pm or 6pm to 8pm

Cost:  $20.00  Requires a machine that can free motion quilt (feed dogs must drop), a darning foot, tread and two pieces of muslin and batting.

Hip Hugger Bag

Many of you admired this bag of Sharon’s last fall.  Made with two different fabrics, this shoulder bag has three outside pockets.  The zipper keeps the inner contents of your bag secure.  The bag can be made with an old pair of blue jeans for a completely different look.  Basic sewing skills required

Date and Time:  Saturday, October 30th from 10 an until  3:30 pm

Cost:  $40.00 plus pattern and supplies

“Buggy Barn” Basics

A favorite class brought back by popular demand!  Choose any Buggy Barn pattern and learn the basic techniques to sew it all together.  We will stack, cut, shuffle and sew the blocks back together the “Buggy Barn” way.  Enjoy watching your blocks come together to make a truly unique quilt.  Basic sewing skills required.

Dates and Times:Tuesday, October 5th and 19th from 1pm to 4pm

Cost: $40.00 plus pattern and supplies

X-Block Class

Create dozens of exciting new quilt designs with strips of fabric and the X-block tools.  There is very little waste of fabric.  You use the trimmed off pieces from each of the blocks in your border.

Dates and Time:  Thursday, November 11th, and 18th from 6pm to 9pm

Cost: $40.00 plus pattern and supplies

Noriko Handbag

This delicate bag, both graceful and whimsical, provides wonderful opportunities to showcase your favorite fabric.  One pattern piece makes each of the four panels of this unique teardrop bag.  The gentle curve at the base of the bag offers a stable base when full.  Pattern is included with the class only.

Date and Time:  Tuesday, November 9th from 10am to 2pm

Cost:  $30.00 plus supplies

Winner’s Bouquet Quilt Class

You’ll be amazed by how simple curves can be!  The pattern is a Atkinson Design and includes three acrylic templates for rotary cutting.  Pick your colors for an awesome bouquet and use either a light or dark background to accent the “flowers”.  Instructions are included for a wall quilt up to a king size.  This stunning quilt is bound to be a winner!

Dates and Times:  Tuesday, November 2nd from 1pm to 3:30pm and November 16th and 23rd from 1pm to 4pm

Cost:  $50.00 plus pattern and supplies

Registration and Cancellation Policy Pre-registration is required for ALL classes. Registration is first come first served and FULL payment is required at time of registration. We make every effort to fill out classes, but if registration in any class should fail to meet minimum required number of students, the class may be cancelled, and we will issue a full refund. We are unable to issue refunds for supplies should a class be cancelled. We recommend waiting to purchase supplies until the minimum student enrollment is reached. Sorry, there are no refunds given if you cancel. You must give seven days notice to receive a credit that you can apply towards future classes. Classes are developed around the fabric and supplies offered through our shop. We thank you for supporting us. Fabric, books supplies, patterns and GST are not included in the class fee unless noted.

Options We Offer Need a place to pin or just sew? Have a group that would like to meet at the shop? Our classroom is available when not in use. Give us a call if you would like to reserve space to sew with friends, pin a quilt, or have a group sew-in. Space is available during shop hours.

School Days

This is a wonderful applique and pieced quilt, it measures 73″ x 88″.  Each month you will get a new piece of the puzzle.  The club has started but you are still welcome to join this great 12 months program.  Come in and register today.

Cost:  $29.95 per Month (This includes:  all fabrics for completing the top of the quilt, borders and binding along with all of the patterns required.)

Over The Hill, Through The Woods to Grandma’s House

This beautiful, black, cream and gold quilt has three stitched panels,it measures 50″ x 56″.  This 6 - month block of the month will start September 2010.  Some months you will stitch a section and some months you will work on the piecing.  Come in and see this wonderful quilt in person.

Cost:  $29.95 per month (This includes:  all fabrics for completing the top of the quilt, borders and binding along with all of the patterns required.)

Sawdust Wood Designs

New wood designed products have been added to Sawdust ‘n Tangled Threads.  Watch for new product postings as they become available.

Quilt hangers from 5″ up to 36″ are available.

Hanging Quilt Shelf is made of solid pine.  It measures 20″ x 30″

Quilt Ladders.  All solid Pine construction. Two styles to choose from.

Pine Potato Bins.  Store your potatoes in the top and your onions in the bottom drawer.

Free standing Quilt stands.  You can special order the stain finish that you would like.
